We are seeking a technically strong and client-focused Private Client Tax Senior Manager to join a high-performing private client team within a well-regarded London-based accountancy firm. This is a key role that blends complex compliance responsibilities with bespoke advisory work, managing a sophisticated client base comprising high-net-worth individuals, landlords, partnerships, and international clients.

Portfolio Management:
Manage a varied portfolio of high-net-worth and complex private clients, reporting directly to a Tax or Client Partner. Act as the main point of contact, cultivating strong relationships through regular communication and client meetings.

Compliance & Advisory Delivery:
Lead on the preparation and review of self-assessment tax returns. Provide technical input into compliance areas involving residence, domicile, and foreign income gains. Conduct in-depth research into complex areas of legislation and deliver tax advice for partner review.

Client Type Coverage:
Deliver compliance and ad hoc advisory services to a range of clients including:
High-net-worth individuals
Private landlords
Non-residents
Partnerships
Entrepreneurs
Families and trusts

Team Leadership & Mentorship:
Support the development of junior staff and trainees pursuing professional qualifications. Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship. Review work and offer constructive feedback.

Technical Collaboration:
Collaborate with international tax partners through a global accountancy network to ensure seamless advice for clients with multi-jurisdictional tax matters.

Operational Oversight:
Manage client budgets and billing cycles efficiently. Handle multiple stakeholders across different Partners and departments while maintaining delivery quality.


Requirements

Essential Experience & Skills:
  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of private clients within a UK accountancy or tax practice
  • Expertise in personal tax compliance and planning, especially for HNWIs and non-residents
  • Strong understanding of UK residence rules, domicile issues, and foreign income & gains (FIG)
  • Demonstrated experience with client billing, budgeting, and advisory project delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of managing client relationships across multiple partners simultaneously
  • Confident, detail-oriented, and highly organised

Qualifications:
  • CTA qualification (or equivalent) preferred
  • Other relevant tax or accountancy qualifications will be considered
