Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join the team. This role plays a critical part in the financial oversight of our construction projects, with a focus on project insurance management, subcontract and purchase order expediting, lien waiver oversight, and accounts payable administration.
Key Responsibilities:
AIA Pay Application and Project Billing
- Collect all monthly costs for each project
- Generate required AIA billing documents
- Compile owner-required billing documentation
Project Insurance Management:
- Collect, review, and track insurance certificates from subcontractors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor expiration dates and coordinate timely renewals to prevent lapses in coverage.
- Collaborate with project managers to address insurance-related issues promptly.
Subcontract and Purchase Order Expediting:
- Prepare and process subcontract agreements and purchase orders in alignment with project schedules.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, compliant, and accurately entered into the accounting system.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to expedite approvals and signatures.
Lien Waiver Management:
- Collect and validate lien waivers from subcontractors and suppliers before releasing payments.
- Maintain a comprehensive tracking system to ensure legal and contractual compliance.
- Address discrepancies or delays with internal teams and external partners as needed.
Accounts Payable Entry and Management:
- Process vendor and subcontractor invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
- Match invoices with purchase orders and contracts, verifying proper approvals.
- Monitor accounts payable aging and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve any payment discrepancies.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, including job cost summaries and variance analysis.
- Ensure accounting practices align with internal policies and external regulations.
- Provide documentation and support during audits and internal reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction accounting or a similar role.
- Proficiency with AIA document software
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Familiarity with construction contracts, lien laws, and insurance requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
